Choosing a responsible, trusted individual to execute your estate plan and distribute assets according to your will is an important decision. You should select someone who has the ability to carry out the responsibilities of the role in a timely, detailed manner.
An executor should:
- Have the ability to handle the responsibilities of the estate and communicate with your lawyer, CPA and beneficiaries;
- Be able and willing to carry out the wishes of your estate as described in your will; and
- Have a high attention to detail while carrying out their responsibilities in a timely manner.
